Fire Box 1208- At 0402 hrs on 3/29/11 the West Grove Fire Company Stations 12, 22, 32 an Engine and Tanker from 23 (Avondale) and Tanker 21 (Union Fire Company) were dispatched for a report of a House Fire on Good Hope Rd in London Britain twp. Initial reports from the Chester County Fireboard indicated flames were coming from the rear of the house and spreading up the wall, possibly originating on the rear deck. With that report Chief 22 upgraded the assignment to a working fire dispatch and the first alarm tanker task force. The working fire dispatch added Cochranville Rescue 27 for RIT, Medic 94, Utilities and Relocates. The Tanker Task Force added an additional Engine from 23 and 4 Tankers (Tankers 24, 27-5, Cecil Tanker 13 and New Castle Tanker 19). Chief 22 arrived and established Good Hope command.

Engine 32 arrived quickly after the Chief and dropped 5" supply line from the beginning of the 500' long driveway and setup in front of the house. The crew deployed an 1.75" line to the D side of the house. Ladder 22 setup for roof operations and Engine 12 picked up the water supply. Engine 21-2's crew ran a line to the second floor to check for extension. The fire was held to the second floor area with no extension into the attic.

Remaining crews assisted with overhaul and cleanup.

Belfor was requested to the scene to secure the openings.

Thank You to Lancaster Engine 521, Tanker 39 and Cecil Engine 813 for covering the WGFC local.

This story is proof of the positive impact the addition of our second substation, in London Britain Twp, has had for area residents. The first arriving engine was able to put water on the fire for roughly 4-5 minutes before the next arriving Engine.
