West Grove Fire Company crews were dispatched to New London Road in London Britain township on Friday night, March 8 at 9:28 pm for an accident with injuries. The initial dispatch was for a vehicle into a pole. Medic 94 was dispatched initially for a possible head injury. Shortly after the initial dispatch, Chester county Fireboard upgraded the response to an accident with entrapment. Ambulance 22-1 was the first arriving unit reporting 1 occupant entrapped with a utility pole down. Assistant 22 arrived and assumed "896 command". R12 and E32 arrived a few minutes later, followed by R22. The rescue and engine crews went to work quickly by stabilizing the vehicle and deploying their hydraulic tools. Their quick and efficient actions resulted in the occupant being extricated 36 minutes after dispatch. A22-1 and M94-2 transported the injured person to Christiana hospital for treatment. The WGFC crews restored their equipment and were back in service in 1 hour. Thanks to our well trained and dedicated volunteers for their professional and efficient work.
