| On Friday March 23, West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for a tanker and RIT assignement to assist Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder (Newark Fire Department, De) on a working house fire. West Grove responded with E12, R22 and T22 with 9 firefighters. While enroute, New Castle County fireboard advised incoming units that a "mayday" was called by the first-in crew. As the West Grove units arrived, the "mayday" had been cleared. This area of Newark does not have hydrants, so Newark FD utilized mutual aid tankers from Hockessin, Elkton and West Grove. The West Grove firefighters remained on scene for three hours assisting NFD with suppresion and overhaul. Thanks to Union Fire Company of Oxford for covering our district during the incident.
