| The members of the West Grove Fire Co. took part in this weeks weekly training of simulating having to bailout of a burning house. It is a skill the members would not like to have to use in a real emergency. The bailout simulation demonstrates a case where a firefighter is trapped in a room, has already called for a mayday and has no other means of exiting the building. The firefighters last resort of bailing out could mean a difference of seconds before severe or fatal injuries could occur. This is the only time firefighters will use this method of exiting a structure.
Assistant 22 led the training for the night. Everyone took the opportunity to practice the bailout under a controlled environment. |
