| On Saturday August 1st, Engine and Tanker 22 traveled to Newark, Delaware to participate in the 108th Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association Convention and Parade. For the past two weeks, members have worked long hours to prepare both units. The 1989 Mack Tanker was polished and waxed as well as the 2003 Pierce Dash Engine. Hours upon hours were spent using elbow grease to get the much needed units parade ready! Hoseman Andrew Vattilana, Captain Scott Mclimans, Chief Engineer Lary Hicks, and Firefighters Ian Torello, Matthew Glass, Mike Rochester, and Danny O'Connell worked overtime to get Engine and Tanker looking first class. Once on location for judging, Shamrock Judges awarded Tanker 22 with First Place for "Best Appearing Engine/Tanker" and Engine 22 took Second Place for "Best Appearing Engine 1250 GPM or Larger". After the awards ceremony, crews met back at Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder, Station 8, for food and drinks. Next as the 22 units departed, leaving in style for winning big, Tanker 22 opened the passenger side 8" dump valve and soaked down the ramp to the station, as well as many fellow firefighting brothers, while Engine 22 followed up making noise. The "Deuces Wild" tradition of bringing home gold still goes on! GOOD JOB to all those who worked on making this happen. |
