It was a busy Sunday for the volunteers of the West Grove Fire Company -- responding to three fire calls during the daytime!

First Alarm
Fire Box - 1201

At 1204 hours, Chester County Fireboard alerted Company 12, Company 22, and Brush 21 to the 10 block of Read Oak Drive in the Walnut Grove subdivision of New London Township. Engine 12-2, Engine 22, Engine 12-1, and Brush 21 all made the response to a reported woods fire.

Brush 21 arrived on scene first to confirm the report of a bonfire that got out of control and lit the nearby woods off. Brush 21 went into service by deploying their booster line and 12-2 crew used hand tools to make a break line. Engine 12-2 was used as the water supply for Brush 21. All units worked for roughly 30 minutes until units were made available at 1247 hours.

Second Alarm
Fire Box - 2204

At 1815 hours, Company 22, Company 12, and Brush 21 were alerted for a brush fire in the 400 block of Sunblaze Lane in the Charlton Farms subdivision of Penn Township. Reports were that there was a controlled burn that got out of hand with a 20' by 20' area on fire.

Engine 22 went responding and was the first unit to arrive on the scene. Deputy 22 gave a report of a hedgerow on fire, and to hold the box to 22 and 12 units, recalling Brush 21. Engine 22 pulled the rear booster line and made the attack while Engine 12-2, Engine 12-1 staged.

Engine 22 made quick work and placed the fire under control at 1838 hours and the box was closed out at 1840 hours.

Third Alarm
Fire Box - 2202

As the second alarm was being cleared out, Chester County Fireboard advised Chief 22 of a second call in the district for an Automatic Fire Alarm in the 300 block of Chatham Road in London Grove Township.

Engine 12-1, Engine 12-2, and Engine 22 all made the response at 1836 hours. Fireboard then advised that the alarm company spoke to the homeowner and there was no problem and the homeowner was requesting cancellation since they were replacing the batteries in a smoke detector. With that information, Chief 22 made the box clear and all units returned to quarters at 1841 hours.
