Building SCCFR: Training Together as One Team

October 30, 2026

This morning, career platoons and volunteer members from Avondale and West Grove Fire Companies came together for a joint morning briefing and training session. As the consolidation of our two organizations into Southern Chester County Fire Rescue (SCCFR) approaches, opportunities for personnel to train together, familiarize themselves with apparatus and equipment, and develop a unified approach to emergency operations are increasingly important. While both companies have a long history of working alongside one another as mutual aid partners, these joint training opportunities allow us to build upon those relationships and further strengthen our operational readiness as we transition into one organization.

Today's training focused on apparatus familiarization, including equipment locations, capabilities, and operational considerations for Squad 23 (future Squad 26), Engine 22-1 (future Engine 26A), and Engine 22-2 (future Engine 26B). Members also discussed potential operational assignments, crew coordination, and resource deployment strategies. As we move closer to becoming one organization, continued training, communication, and collaboration will be essential to building a cohesive team and ensuring we provide the highest level of service to the communities we serve.
