| Firefighters across Chester County along with the West Grove Fire Company assisted the Kennett Regional Fire Department with two simultaneous working fires Sunday afternoon.
The first fire came in as an outbuilding fire and was then upgraded to a barn fire. The large 100x60 structure used as a tractor shed/garage was fully involved when units arrived on scene on Ryan Road in West Marlborough Township. WGFC Engine 22-1 was the first due engine on the scene, with Ladder 22 second due and Tanker 22 shuttled water at the rural fire. Crews were on scene about three hours.
Just 20 minutes into the Ryan Road incident, Command was notified of a reported house fire in nearby East Marlborough Township on Unionville Road. First arriving units found fire from the roof from the residence, with units from a range of additional departments sent to the second simultaneous working fire. WGFC Engine 22-2 redirected from the barn fire, operating at the second call as 2nd due engine, laying five inch supply line from the scene on Unionville Road back toward the intersection at 926 to supply the scene. The house fire was declared under control in 40 minutes with crews on scene about 90 minutes.
While crews were returning and cleaning up from the two fire calls, WGFC also was dispatched to assist 23 on an auto accident on Good Hope Road in London Britain Township. On that call, Lancaster Tanker 52-2 and WGFC Engine 22-3 assisted Ambulance 23 on the two vehicle crash which shut down Good Hope Road for an hour. Our thanks to the crews from Station 52 for standing by at Station 22 during the two fire calls.
(Thanks to our mutual aid partner Kennett Regional for the pictures of the two fires) |
