London Grove Brush Fire

A controlled burn that extended to the woods and brush kept West Grove Fire Company firefighters and area first responders busy on Friday.

WGFC units were dispatched to the reported brush fire just before noon along Route 41 above the Route 1 Bypass with initial reports of a grass fire. Units arrived on scene to report a large and spreading brush fire, with Assistant 22 requesting an ATV response.

WGFC responded with Brush 22, Engine 22-2, Ladder 22, Utility 22-3 and an ambulance. Area companies assisted West Grove sending Engine 23 and Tanker 23 (Avondale), ATV 27 and Utility 27 (Cochranville), Brush 21 (Oxford), and ATV24 and Utility 24-2 (Kennett Regional). The call was declared under control in 30 minutes with firefighters utilizing 4,000 gallons of water for the fire that spread over approximately 2.5 acres.
