December 19, 2025

High winds and wet conditions contributed to a tree falling suddenly and without warning onto North Creek Road near Mercer Mill Road on Friday morning.

A car driving along the roadway was struck by the large falling tree which fell across the roadway just as the car was passing by, hitting the car on the roof over the back seat area. Fortunately, no one was sitting there. The driver was trapped by the damage to the car, and the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched along with Medic 94 for an accident with entrapment.

Units from the WGFC responded immediately and were on scene in minutes. After a quick check with EMS personnel, the driver was able to self-extricate through a window and hydraulic rescue tools were not utilized. WGFC units were on scene and guided the extrication in just 12 minutes after dispatch.
