Bird Rescue

When West Grove Fire Company Lt. Zach Felker was scouting an area woods for deer hunting locations, he was "approached" by a hawk. Concerned the bird was injured, he reached out for help. He as soon assisted by another hawk, none other than Deputy Fire Chief Josh Hawk.

They managed to capture the bird and then took it to Tri-State Bird Rescue in nearby Newark, Delaware. We are fortunate to have one of the country's foremost bird rescue organizations in our area. Located off of Possum Park Road above Newark, the organization has a team of professional and volunteer staff who recover injured birds and nurse them to health -- often returning them to the wild.

If you find an injured bird, you can contact Tri-State Bird Rescue at 302-737-9543. They have volunteers who can come out to capture and recover injured birds and their website (see link below) has great FAQs regarding injured birds and the organization's services.
