Units from the West Grove Fire Company were dispatched to assist the Kennett Square Fire Company on a barn fire on Norway Road in Kennett Township. Multiple fire companies from across southern Chester County, New Castle County and Delaware County were involved in the call.

Initial reports had the barn as fully involved, with the WGFC requested for Ladder 22 to be the R.I.T. (Rapid Intervention Team) unit, and Tanker 22 requested as part of a rural water tanker task force. Ladder 22 stood by at the scene with Tanker 22 hauling 3,500 gallons before the scene was turned over to units who stood by as heavy equipment pulled apart the fully destroyed structure.
