| Our congratulations to a West Grove volunteer firefighter, William Ginn, of Kemblesville, on his graduation from training at the Baltimore City Fire Academy. The training program is a significant commitment of time over six months and concluded with a graduation attended by a contingent of WGFC first responders.
William has joined the City's department as a full-time career firefighter where he will be providing EMS and fire staffing for one of the nation's largest cities. The department serves a geographic area of 92 square miles with a daytime population exceeding 1,000,000 and a residential population of more than 620,000. More than 1,600 members are assigned across Community Risk Reduction, Safety and Member Services, and Emergency Operations management branches. These members respond to more than 235,000 calls for service per year, utilizing 35 engine companies, 17 ladder companies, 24 first-line medic units, five critical alert medic units, one heavy rescue, and other specialty units.
William Ginn has served as a firefighter for the WGFC as a volunteer running out of the London Britain station, and quickly rose to become a Lieutenant. His career fire service included in area departments as an employee at the Avondale Fire Company, but also at distant fire departments near Portland, Maine.
He joins a growing list of West Grove volunteers who have become career firefighters, a strong indication of the professional training and service ethos culture at the WGFC. We congratulate him on this significant accomplishment and wish him well in his career. |
