A Saturday of Fire Training

November 2, 2025

A large contingent of firefighters from the West Grove Fire Company spent Saturday training to hone critical skills at a West Chester training facility.

The session was dedicated to working on the core skills of fire attack, including hose line advancement and search and fire attack, in a training environment with real fire, heat and smoke conditions. WGFC crews ran more than six evolutions throughout the morning, each starting with crews on fire trucks responding to an incident, setting apparatus positions, water supply, and undertaking fire attack and search and rescue. After each evolution, crews gathered with officers and discussed lessons learned. Members also worked on ladder placement, hydrant operations and pumper operation, and tested out the company's new thermal imaging cameras.

Our thanks to the West Chester Fire Department for use of their training center.
