| The West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for a two-vehicle auto accident Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Route 841 and the southbound exit ramp of the Route 1 Bypass.
The call was quickly upgraded with reports that one vehicle's driver was trapped in the wreckage. Firefighters used portable rescue tools (known commonly as the "Jaws of Life") to remove both doors on the driver's side, and also rolling the dash up to free the entrapped legs of the driver. The patient was then able to wiggle her legs out of the floor area and climb out of the vehicle. WGFC crews completed the rescue extrication in just 19 minutes after the call dispatch.
Crews were on the scene for about an hour, with ambulances transporting two patients to area hospitals. |
