More than one dozen fire companies sent units to assist the Modena Fire Company at a large barn fire in East Fallowfield Township Saturday evening.
The West Grove Fire Company assisted as part of a second alarm tanker task force. The fire was in an area not served by fire hydrants, so numerous tankers were used to supply the fire scene, filled at two different tanker fill sites. Arriving first responders were able to save a number of horses from the well involved stable, although unfortunately two horses were lost to the blaze.
Tanker 22 was dispatched just after 9:30pm and returned to quarters three hours later. Our thanks to the Singerly Fire Company of Elkton for standing by at Station 22 until the assignment was cleared. (Thanks to various parties for the pictures.)
