Two Brush Fires on Saturday In Penn and Franklin

February 22, 2025

The West Grove Fire Company handled two back to back brush fires on Saturday.

The first call was on Gypsy Hill Road in Franklin Township, where a small brush pile extended to grass and brush in windy dry conditions. Engine 22-1, Tanker 22, Brush 22, and Engine 22-3 handled the call, assisted by the ambulance and fire police. Fire fighters utilized lines from both Engine 1 and the Brush to put out the blaze before it could extend to a fence line and dog pen.

As that first call was completed, the fire company was notified of a second brush fire in Penn Township. All units departed the scene to travel to 648 Pusey Mill Road north of the US 1 Bypass. There Engine 3 discovered a large wood pile burning, which had extended to grass and brush over two acres, threatening a home, shed and fence. Engine 1 arrived along with Brush 22 and handled the fire before the wind extended it into nearby woods. Approximately 1,750 gallons of water were used at the scene. Tanker 22 refilled units with WGFC clearing the call in about an hour.
