The West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for an accident with entrapment this morning at 8:51am in New London Township.
Reports from the 911 Center stated there was a crash with a subject trapped by a door pinned up against a leg. The WGFC responded with Engine 22-1, Squad 22, Engine 22-3, Ambulances 1 & 2, and Fire Police. Also responding on the entrapment dispatch were paramedics from Medic 94.
WGFC's first ambulance arrived to find two SUV's had crashed on Lewisville Road in the area of Great Oak Drive and Walnut Glen Road. The ambulance crew confirmed the initial entrapment report. Firefighters from Engine 22-1 and Squad 22 used rescue tools (commonly called the Jaws of Life) to remove the driver's side door on a Jeep SUV to provide access to the patient, with extrication quickly completed at 9:19am. The patient was evaluated by WGFC Ambulance 22-2 and Medic 94-2 and was transported by WGFC's ambulance to the hospital. The other vehicle's driver was not injured.
Fire police had Lewisville Road closed, with 22 units clearing the scene after about one hour. |
