Crash with Reported Entrapment in London Britain; Water Rescue Dispatch in London Grove

May 5, 2024

The West Grove Fire Company was dispatched to two rescue emergencies Sunday morning.

In London Britain Township, the WGFC was dispatched just before 730am for an accident with a subject reported trapped. WGFC responded with Engine 22-1, Rescue 22, Engine 22-3, Ambulance 22-4, and fire police. Medic 94 responded as well.

Engine 22-3 arrived to report a car on its side off the roadway, with one subject confined (confined means a subject is not "trapped" but cannot get out of the vehicle), who did not appear to be seriously injured. Initial stabilization began as the car was on its side, and, when Rescue 22 arrived, the crew added additional stabilization. First responders then cut the windshield which provided the driver the ability to get out of the vehicle. The driver was evaluated by the ambulance crew.

Moments later, at 7:52am the fire company was dispatched for a water rescue on South Guernsey Road, with reports of car into the water. Engine 22-1 and Rescue 22 responded from the accident scene in London Britain Township, and Avondale's ambulance also responded. Units found a car well off the roadway in a creek, but the subject had gotten out of the car and there was no need for emergency services.

Units cleared both calls by 8:30am.
