A partnership in emergency services that spans four decades was celebrated tonight at the West Grove Fire Company.

The area's provider of advanced life support paramedic services, Southern Chester County EMS, which operates as Medic 94, has recently celebrated 40 years of continuous service to the communities that span nearly 20 municipalities from west of Oxford, to north of Cochranville, to the east near Kennett Square and all of the territory served by the WGFC. In these areas, Medic 94's paramedics join with the EMTs of area fire companies whose ambulances assist in care and provide transportation to the hospital.

Medic 94 is managed a board of directors that has a unique make up -- board members include community members (some of which are township officials) as well as representatives from the local fire companies. Since it's founding, Medic 94's board has included two representatives from the WGFC.

This successful partnership was acknowledged at a short ceremony held at the WGFC this evening. SCCEMS CEO Bob Hotchkiss presented a plaque to the fire company. Present were WGFC President Neil Vaughn, Assistant Chief for EMS Gary Vinnacombe, Fire Chief Eric Felker, and WGFC Trustee Charles Foy, who serves on the Medic 94 board and is that board's incoming Chairman.
