A Summer Evening with Fire Trucks and Ice Cream

On a beautiful evening with summer drawing to a close, first responders from the West Grove Fire Company took part in a welcome-back-to-school event at the Avon Grove Intermediate School.

The second grade teachers held an ice cream social for students, parents and families at the school on Friday evening. On display were WGFC's Engine 22-1 and Ladder 22. The fire company displayed its large American flag on Ladder 22. Kids had a chance to climb inside Ladder 22 to get an up close look, each getting a yellow fire company helmet to wear and take home.

Not only did the kids have a great time, a few adults got to take pictures on Ladder 22, get their own helmets, and a few firefighters got some ice cream as well. Our thanks to the second grade and school staff for the invitation to participate.
