Truck Fire at the New London 7-11

May 12, 2023

At the firehouse, you never really know what will happen when the doorbell rings. Such was the case this afternoon at the New London Station of the West Grove Fire Company.

When a person rang the door bell and then hurried into the firehouse and reported a car on fire at the Sunoco/7-11 next door, firefighters and EMTs spring into action. A pickup truck was on fire in the parking lot of the 7-11, and the on duty firefighter took Engine 22-2 on a very short ride to put the fire out. He was assisted by the ambulance crew, with one EMT gearing up and putting on an air pack to handle the hose line.

By then, the WGFC had been dispatched and crews began arriving to assist, with New London firefighters and then Engine 22-1’s crew helping. The fire was extinguished quickly, and WGFC personnel were clear in less than 45 minutes.
