Three WGFC Volunteers Near Graduation from County Fire School

April 16, 2023

Three volunteers from the West Grove Fire Company are nearing completion of Fire 1 training at the Chester County Public Safety Training Campus. They showed off their newly-learned skills at Family & Friends Day recently.

WGFC firefighters VJ Sudini, RJ Hill and Chris Marks have undergone weeks of classroom and hands on training, including learning skills like advancing hose lines, setting up ladders, how to use key hand tools, and learning to wear SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) during the program. Fire 1 provides fire ground basics and qualifies a student for interior firefighting.

Each class rotation includes a Friends & Family Day which allows visitors to see the students in action. In addition to family, the WGFC students also had officers and fellow firefighters from the WGFC to show support for their efforts in this important class.

WGFC volunteers take many hours of training, both in house at the fire company and at county-level programs. Everyone at the WGFC congratulates VJ, RJ and Chris on their accomplishments in the Fire 1 program.
