Saturday evening dinners were disrupted when fire pagers sounded at 6:22pm for the West Grove Fire Company for an auto accident with reported entrapment in Penn Township. Also dispatched were paramedics from Medic 94 and an ambulance from Avondale.

The call was reported on Route 796 north of Ewing Road, with one person who could not get out of an overturned vehicle that was blocking the roadway. The WGFC responded with Engine 22-1, Rescue 22, Engine 22-3, ambulance and fire police.

Arriving units found a pickup truck on its side in the northbound lane of 796 with the driver standing up inside the vehicle but unable to get out. Engine 22-1 arrived, assuming a blocking position, with crews deploying stabilization struts to make sure the vehicle was stable to work on. Rescue 22 arrived setting up its light tower, with crews working to quickly remove the windshield and assisting the driver out to waiting EMS crews.

The extrication time was minutes after the first engine's arrival, at 6:39pm. Fire police had 796 closed from Baker Road to Ewing Road. WGFC units cleared about an hour after dispatch.
