August 29, 2022

Firefighters and EMTs from the West Grove Fire Company were dispatched for an auto accident on Sunday afternoon in Franklin Township.

Emergency pagers alerted at 2:07pm for the crash located at the intersection of Den Road and New London Road (Route 896). Initial reports were that there were two vehicles involved and possible injuries.

WGFC responded with Engine 22-3, Engine 22-1, Rescue 22, and two ambulances, and Fire Police. Arriving chief officers confirmed the two vehicle crash with one van partially blocking the northbound lanes of Route 896. Engine 22-3 arrived and positioned off of the highway, with crews from the Engine and Rescue 22 laying down oil dry material over fluids that were leaking heavily from a damaged mini-van. The second vehicle, a pickup truck was parked off the roadway with limited damage.

EMTs from both ambulances examined multiple people and, fortunately, no patients were transported to the hospital.

WGFC Fire Police had their hands full with managing Route 896 traffic, keeping one lane flowing on a busy Sunday afternoon. WGFC units were on scene until tow trucks could remove the damaged van, with WGFC units clearing after about an hour.
