West Grove Fire Company units were dispatched for a motor vehicle crash in New London Township at 830pm in front of the Sunoco on Route 896. Also dispatched was an advanced life support unit from Longwood Fire Company, covering for Medic 94 whose units were on two other ALS calls at that time. WGFC responded with an Ambulance, Rescue 22, Engine 22-1, Engine 22-3 and Fire Police.

WGFC units arrived quickly, as the accident was at the entrance to the Fire Company's New London Station, with personnel reporting a crash involving a car and motorcycle. Ambulance personnel began treating an injured motorcyclist who was ultimately transported along with Medics from MICU 25-1 to the Christiana Hospital.

As Fire Police set up traffic control to close Route 896 at State and Avondale Roads, they also reported a second incident location for a utility pole down along the roadway on State Road at the intersection with Route 896. Ultimately, WGFC Fire Police had to close the traffic on Route 896 in both directions, and State Road in both directions between Route 896 and Avondale Road. Verizon and PECO crews were still working on replacing the pole and wires involved at 430am.

WGFC units cleared the crash scenes after about an hour.
