With temperatures below 10 degrees, units from West Grove Fire Company were called to assist Avondale Fire Company on three separate incidents between 532am and 738am, and operated on five total emergencies before 8am.

The first call was for an Engine to assist crews operating at a house fire in New Garden Township. The single story, wood frame dwelling on Pemberton Road had a reported fire in the basement, with fire showing from the front of the home on arrival of units from Avondale, Kennett Square, Po-Mar-Lin (Unionville), Hockessin, and Longwood Fire Companies. West Grove Engine 22-1 responded to assist units in overhauling that fire scene.

Approximately 45 minutes later, West Grove was requested for Rescue 22 and an Ambulance at 6:13am to assist Avondale on an auto accident on Good Hope Road in London Britain Township. Rescue 22, Engine 22-3, Squad 22 and an Ambulance assisted Lancaster County's Kinzer Fire Company on the call -- Kinzer had been on the way to standby at Station 23 for Avondale crews at the ongoing house fire incident. The crash was on Good Hope Road near the entrance to the Country Walk development, with a car leaving the roadway at a high speed, and entering the woods backwards where it came to rest among a number of trees. The occupants of the car had reportedly left the scene, and were ultimately treated by an Avondale ambulance some distance from the scene elsewhere in Landenberg.

A short time later, at 6:39am, a West Grove Ambulance was requested to assist Avondale with another auto accident along Route 41, near Penn Green Road. And, finally, at 7:04am, WGFC EMS was requested to assist with one of the crash patients from the Good Hope Road incident who was at a residence on Santilli Road in New Garden Township.

The busy morning continued when West Grove units were dispatched for a third auto accident call on the busy Thursday morning with a crash at Route 896 and West Avondale Road in New London Township. That call was handled by a WGFC Ambulance, along with Engine 22-1 and Utility 22 and WGFC Fire Police.

Finally, WGFC EMS handled an advanced life support call with Medic 94 on Faggs Manor Road in Londonderry Township at 7:43am. Another busy Thursday was just getting started...
