COVID Cases on the Rise in Chester County: What You Should Know...

With the spread of highly-contagious Covid variants in our area – Omicron and Delta – the transmission rate of Covid in Chester County is now indicated as HIGH. Positivity levels are at similar levels as seen one year ago during the winter Covid wave.

When listed as HIGH, the Chester County Health Department recommends limiting of a variety of activities to limit contact between individuals and preserve essential community activities and services.

How to Protect Yourself

The Department of Health recommends the following actions to prevent the spread of Covid and protect your health and the health of those around you:

· Wear a mask when around others,

· Social distant as much as possible,

· Wash hands often, and

· Get vaccinated and boosted.

Most hospitalized and serious cases of Covid are patients that are unvaccinated, and nearly all fatal cases of Covid are among the unvaccinated.

Closest Hospital is Closing

Keep in mind that Jennersville Hospital closes this week on December 31, and is already not accepting patients that need to be admitted. The next closest hospitals are Christiana (Delaware), Union Hospital (Elkton), and Chester County Hospital (West Chester).
