The Members, Officers and Staff of the West Grove Fire Company are constantly amazed by the support and generosity of the community. Our ability to provide Fire, Rescue and EMS services to the greater Avon Grove community is dependent on that help -- often through financial contributions and municipal support.

We are always grateful when the community goes further with an acknowledgement of our service, with personal thank you messages when we are out in the area and on the scene of an emergency, and, of course, the thank you notes and letters we get from the nearly 5,000 school-age children for our in-school fire safety visits.

However, once in a while, someone stops by one of the Fire Stations unannounced and drops off a thank you -- like cookies from school children, or a thank you basket from a church group or PTA. Just such an occasion happened last week when an area resident dropped by with a handmade, wooden American flag for the Fire Company.

Jay Burch, a resident of Ovations, put together a beautiful flag and stopped in to say thank you. Jay is a Penn Township resident who runs a business known as Knots Promotions, LLC and Knots About Wine. We are grateful to Jay for his thoughtfulness, and for his support of the West Grove Fire Company. We will proudly display the wooden flag at our firehouse.
