WGFC Covers Lower Merion Township

August 4, 2021

Members of the West Grove Fire Company traveled to Montgomery County PA on Tuesday to provide standby coverage for a Fire Company that had a recent Line of Duty Death on Saturday, July 24.

Engine 22-2 stood by at the Belmont Hills Fire Company in Lower Merion Township for the day, as that Fire Company continues to take time to mourn the loss of a firefighter struck and killed at an auto accident. It is a time-honored tradition for neighboring Fire Companies to take over and run calls for a period of time when such a tragedy occurs, and it was both an honor to support them and a privilege to provide coverage for their district.

During the standby, Engine 22-2 responded to two emergency calls -- a vehicle crash on the Schuylkill Expressway to assist the PA State Police, and an automatic fire alarm.

All of us at the West Grove Fire Company are keeping Belmont Hills in our thoughts as they mourn the loss of 49 year old firefighter Tom Royds.
