Area fire companies were dispatched to assist Avondale Fire Company on a commercial building fire in New Garden Township on Wednesday evening.

Units were called to Penn Green Road, between Route 41 and Old Baltimore Pike. The call was in Avondale's local district, with units from West Grove Fire Company, along with Hockessin, Longwood, Kennett Square and Po-Mar-Lin Fire Companies on the dispatch.

Avondale's first in Engine 23-1 was directed to the rear of the structure by Chief 23 who reported a fire in an electrical panel. WGFC Ladder 22 arrived as the "first due special" (meaning first in ladder truck) and initiated an interior search while 23-1 extinguished the exterior fire. Tanker 23 provide the immediate water source. With no fire extension, the situation was quickly under control.

WGFC responded with the Ladder, Tanker, Engines 22-2 and 22-3, and Rescue 22.
