Crash in Franklin Township

April 28, 2021

Crews from the West Grove Fire Company and Medic 94 were summoned Tuesday to a head on crash on Route 896 in Franklin Township.

Dispatched just before 8:50am, the crash occurred just north of the intersection with Good Hope Road. The call was upgraded because callers to the 911 Center reported possible entrapment.

WGFC units responded with Engine 22-1, Engine 22-3, Rescue 22, Brush 22, and all three WGFC ambulances. Medic 94 sent two paramedic units.

Engine 22-3 arrived from the nearby firehouse just south of the accident scene, and reported a two vehicle head on collision. A quick size up revealed two patients, but fortunately no entrapment. WGFC fire police began to shut down Route 896, which remained closed until the crash scene was cleaned up.

WGFC ambulance EMTs began to immediately treat the two patients, joined by the advanced life support team from Medic 94. Both patients were placed in ambulances, with one ambulance transporting to Jennersville Hospital, and the other to Christiana Hospital. WGFC crews spread oil dry to address fluids leaking from the cars, and stood by until tow trucks could clear the wreckage.

WGFC units were on scene for approximately 45 minutes.
