New London Dumpster Fire

September 15, 2020

Construction debris and trash burned inside a dumpster in New London Township yesterday.

West Grove Fire Company crews were called for a reported dumpster fire at a home being renovated on Thames Drive. Responding were Engines 22-1, 22-2, and 22-3, along with Tanker 22, Brush 22 and the Ambulance. Engine 22-2 arrived and put a 1-3/4" attack line into service on a large trash container with contents on fire.

Crews from the additional Engines assisted, with crews working from above and at the dumpster to put the fire out. A nearby brush pile was also extinguished. Due to the potential fire load, the nearby home, and to assure the fire was fully extinguished, approximately 5,000 gallons of water were used.

Crews cleared the scene in about one hour.
