Rescue Required at New London Crash

August 27, 2020

At noon today, a crash at Lewisville and State Roads sent several victims to the hospital. A pickup truck and SUV crashed, with the pickup continuing on and striking a utility pole.

The West Grove Fire Company was dispatched at 12:03pm for the call in New London Township. Responding were ambulances from West Grove, along with Engine 22 from the West Grove station and Rescue 22 from the New London Station. Two ambulances from the Union Fire Company of Oxford were also on the call (as that company had originally been dispatched for this accident in their district but continued to the WGFC call once the location was found to be in New London).

Chief 22 arrived establish command, and requested advanced life support to be added -- bringing Medic 94 to the scene. He reported patients in need of care in both vehicles. He also indicated that Rescue 22 would deploy rescue tools to "pop" a door to allow for access to a patient.

West Grove firefighters made quick work of the rescue, and the patients were transported using one ambulance from West Grove and two ambulances from Union Fire Company of Oxford. Fire police assisted with traffic control.

Units: Rescue 22, Engine 22, Fire Police, 3 Ambulances

Mutual Aid: Medic 94 and Ambulance 21-2 and 3
