By Secretary Bill Wohl
February 6, 2020

2020 continues to shape up to be another busy year for the West Grove Fire Company. Of the many types of calls we received last year, a large number of the 651 calls in 2019 were dispatches for auto accidents.

Here are two calls from the past few days in London Grove Township:

Route 1 Bypass

On Friday, January 31 at 3:51am, West Grove Fire Company was dispatched for an auto accident on Route 1 between the West Grove and Avondale exits at the 15.9 mile marker. Avondale Fire Company's ambulance was also dispatched to assist.

Initial reports had the call as a two-vehicle accident. Crews on Engine 22-1 located the call and found a single vehicle on it's side at the 15.7 mile marker. All passengers were out of the vehicles. Avondale's Ambulance transported one patient to Jennersville Hospital, and the WGFC Ambulance evaluated others, but did not transport. Crews stood by to assist the State Police as Fire Police as the vehicle was righted and then towed away.

Hilton Road

On Wednesday, February 5, crews were dispatched to Hilton Road near North Guernsey Road for an auto accident. WGFC responded with Engine 22-1, both Ambulances, and Rescue 22 to find a vehicle on it's side, with a PECO pole broken and hanging in the roadway. WGFC Ambulance 22-2 transported one patient and rendezvoused with an Advanced Life Support Unit on their way to Paoli Hospital.

The response was held to the Ambulances, Engine and Fire Police. Units assisted the police with traffic control as the vehicle was removed, and the scene was turned over to the State Police and PECO to restore the broken pole.

Units: Engine 22-1, Ambulance 22-1 and 22-2, Rescue 22, Fire Police

Mutual Aid: Avondale Ambulance and PA State Police
