West Grove Fire Company personnel were honored last night at the annual Chester County EMS Council Banquet.

Firefighter/EMT Lisa Glass was named the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Educator of the Year. Lisa is widely recognized for leading WGFC's public safety education program, making sure that thousands of school children at schools and daycares benefit from learning about fire safety topics. Additionally, Lisa also coordinates additional EMS training for fire company members and career staff and conducts CPR and first aid training for various community organizations as well. Everyone at the WGFC congratulates Lisa on this county-wide recognition.

Additionally, a number of WGFC personnel were honored for being involved in clinical saves, meaning they were part of crews that helped save a life under difficult circumstances like cardiac arrest. Honored were: Firefighter/EMT Geoff Burkhart, Paramedic Ben Eidelmiller, EMT Ted Fosselman, Supervisor Rick Franks, EMT Kathryn Goldhahn, and EMT Danielle Hughes.

The banquet was held as part of national EMS Week, which is May 15-21. "This has been a challenging year for everyone involved in EMS, with Covid 19, two area hospitals closing, an overall shortage of EMS personnel and unprecedented call volumes," said Gary Vinnacombe, WGFC EMS Manager. "We are really proud of our EMS team at West Grove, and we congratulate all of our honorees for their dedication and life saving work."
