West Grove Fire Company junior firefighters and new members attended a training session at the New London station on Thursday September 5. Six junior/new members attended the training session. The session was designed for new members with little to no previous firefighting experience. The instructors explained the various types of portable ladders and how they are used. Each attendee practiced various raising and lowering techniques as well as carrying techniques. The attendees were also trained on basic airway and oxygen equipment.

WGFC allows teenagers to join at 16 years old. We also encourage any adult who may have no previous firefighting/EMS experience or training to join our team. All training is free and all necessary gear and supplies will be given to new volunteer members. If you are interested in joining our team, go to the "join us" tab on our home page.

Special thanks to Captain O'Connell, Firefighter Glass and EMT Ford for giving their time in energy as the instructors for the evening. Thank you to FF/EMT Crowley and FF/EMT Forwood for assisting the new members with the practical session.
