The West Grove Fire Company spent a few hours today giving back to the community by taking part in two separate community events in Penn Township. Crews were made up of both volunteer and career staff members to make both events possible.

The first event was held at the Penn township building assisting with a Mini Medic Camp put on by Southern Chester County EMS, Medic 94. Children ages 4 and up were educated on the importance of our Chester County 911 system and reviewed managing wounds, created a DIY first aid kit, and even practiced hands only CPR to the tune of "baby shark" sung and choreographed by SCCEMS Chief Bob Hotchkiss. Participants had the opportunity to tour and see up close SCCEMS paramedic units and WGFC fire apparatus and ambulances.

The second event was held at the Southern Chester County YMCA summer camp. WGFC crews educated summer camp members on fire prevention, pool and vehicular safety. Children had the opportunity to see the fire/rescue tools and apparatus. At the end of the demonstration the kids were treated with a wet down to cool off from the hot summer day.
