Around 4:00 PM on Thursday, January 4, West Grove Fire Company was alerted for an Engine to assist Cecil County Stations 3, 13, and 14 (Elkton) on a residential fire in the Surrey Ridge section of Fair Hill. Engine 22-1 responded shortly after dispatch with a crew of four. After Engine 22 responded, units from Elkton were arriving on scene and found a two-story house with fire showing from the front of the house. Command immediately requested a Tanker Task Force, which added Tanker 22 to the assignment, along with numerous other tankers from Cecil County. Tanker 22 marked up seconds after dispatch with a crew of two.

When Engine 22-1 arrived on scene, the crew was tasked with preforming a primary search for potential victims on the first floor and the basement levels. The searches were found to be negative for victims. After the primary was completed, Command requested the crew from Engine 22-1 to operate a second 1.75" hand line on the second floor, extinguishing the remaining fire, and performing overhaul operations to ensure all fire was knocked down.

Units operated for approximately an hour and a half before returning available.
