On the Sunday evening before Christmas, the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched to assist the Singerly Fire Company (Elkton) and numerous Cecil County, Maryland and Newark, Delaware companies on a reported house fire.

Engines 22-1 and 22-3 responded to the call on Cherry Hill Road, near Maryland 213, in the Academy Hills area north of Elkton. Arriving Elkton units discovered a large, two-story garage well involved, approximately 20 feet behind an occupied house.

The WGFC Engines arrived at the same time with crews joining the manpower pool and assisting with hosing down the structure and overhaul. Multiple hand lines were used, along with dual master streams from Elkton's tower ladder, to extinguish the blaze.

Crews from West Grove were on the scene for about 90 minutes.
