Members of the West Grove Fire Company family are mourning the passing of Life Member Edgar Leon Willis. Former Assistant Chief Willis was 94 years old.

Chief Willis was known to have been the oldest living member of the Fire Company, and maintained membership since 1950. He was also a lifetime member at the Avondale Fire Company. He was a consummate public servant in Chester County, serving as treasurer of and member of the Chester County Fireman's Association, and a charter member of the VFW Post in Kennett Square. He served as a part time police officer in West Grove and Avondale, and served in the US Army across Europe.

All of us at the West Grove Fire Company acknowledge Chief Willis' many years of service. Our collective thoughts and prayers are with his family, and particularly with his son Charles Willis and daughter Betty Kramer -- both longtime members of the WGFC.

The fire company will participate in honoring the late Chief Willis at services scheduled for this weekend. For more details, please see his obituary at: http://www.griecocares.com/obituaries/2018/10/22/edgar-leon-willis/?fbclid=IwAR1PEyS4fxUM9g91VbzR5h9btkP685nZxgROkb5IHpEbGxJWccY3EgT5UIY
