Thirty-seven volunteer members from West Grove Fire Company attended Pump Operations training over this past week. Twenty-five members obtained the Pump Operations Refresher training and twelve members obtained Pennsylvania State Fire Academy certificates in Pump Operation 1 level training. These twelve volunteers are now eligible to become engine driver/operators. The class is designed to educate the students on water movement and basic pumper operations. This training involves estimating fire flows and the amount of water that each incident will require. The officers of WGFC are very proud of the twelve new pump operators, and we are proud that we had thirty-seven members willing to invest in training to make WGFC a stronger and better trained fire department.

The class was held on September 17, September 19 and all day (through driving rain) on September 23. The class was taught by PA State Fire Instructor (and WGFC current President and Past Chief) Jeff Simpson. Instructor/Chief Simpson was assisted by the WGFC engineer staff (Lary Hicks and Charlie Harrison). We appreciate their efforts and giving their time to train these future operators.

The WGFC community can rest easy knowing that we are staffed by these dedicated men and women who train on a regular basis to prepare for our next emergency.
