Early on the morning of September 8th @ 00:59 hrs. the West Grove Fire Company was dispatched to single vehicle car accident on Route 1 northbound. The accident was reported near mile marker 16, between the West Grove and Avondale Exits. Reports from Chester County Dispatch specified a vehicle in the ditch with occupants waving for help (unknown injuries).

West Grove units responded including Engine 22-1, Ambulance 22 and Engine 22-2. Upon arrival it was evident that vehicle had veered off the road striking a tree causing it to flip on its side in a 180° position facing southbound. Both occupants had managed to crawl clear of the accident and were standing outside.

The Engines provide a safety zone to work in on the busy highway. The patients were immediately moved into the ambulance for evaluation.
Due to serious injuries, Medic 94 was added to the call, and then the patients were transported to Christiana Hospital for further observation.
