Crash with a Subject Trapped

West Grove Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision with reports of a subject trapped at the intersection of Old Baltimore Pike and Sunnyside Road in Penn Township at 1527 hours. Ambulances 22-1 & 22-2 both made the response first along with Medics 94-1& 94-2. Engine 22-1 marked up with 5 volunteers minutes after dispatch.

Ambulance 22-2 arrived first and reported a rear end collison and that they would be out checking on injuries. Engine 22-1 arrived next and parked out of the way for the Rescue Company which responded with 5 members as well. The Engine Crew followed riding assignments and crew members began to stablize the vehicles involved. Other members pulled a safety line and had the e-draulics at the ready awaiting EMS to evaluate the driver. EMS crews advised that they would need a partial removal of the drivers side of the vehicle to access the patient. The subject was extricated within 10 minutes of arrival. Rescue crews assisted with the removal of the patient and traffic control. Once removed the patient was loaded into Ambulance 22-2 and transported to Christiana Emergency Room along with Medic 94-1. Deputy 22 held “Old Baltimore Pike Command”.
