WGFC Assists 21 on Working Building Fire in Oxford Borough

At 00:23 hours on January 30, 2018, the West Grove Fire Company along with neighboring fire companies were dispatched to assist Station 21 for a reported building fire, at the Sunoco gas station located on the 200 block of South Third Street in Oxford Borough.

Chief 21 was the first Officer on scene at which time he reported heavy smoke from the garage and requested the working fire dispatch. Chief 21 established Third Street Command.

WGFC units responded with Engine 22-1, Engine 22-2, Ladder 22 , and Utility 22 shortly after dispatch. Crews were tasked with assisting with fire suppression, operating hand lines as well as performing a defensive maneuver of creating a trench cut along the roof line, to prevent fire spread to the remainder of the building. Engine 22-1 was utilized to supply Ladder 21 during aerial operations.
Crews operated on the scene for approximately 3 hours.
