The members of the West Grove Fire Company have the Cornell family in their thoughts this week, with the passing of Life Member Gwen Cornell of Landenberg, PA.

Gwen was a life long member of the West Grove Fire Company, serving as a volunteer on the ambulance for both emergencies and transports. She also served as an officer, as the Membership Secretary of the Ambulance Division. She was a member of the bingo team, often volunteering on Friday nights (back when the WGFC had a bingo night fundraiser).

Gwen's extended family are members of and volunteered for the WGFC. Son Ron was a fire line officer as an Engineer and Ladder Captain, daughter Kathy was a volunteer on the ambulance, and son-in-law Jim McLimans was also very active as Line Officer and Trustee. Gwen and her surviving husband Frank were regulars around the fire house, and their service to the fire company was both appreciated and respected.

Gwen's life was dedicated to serving her community. Beyond her service to the WGFC, she was a very active volunteer at the local hospital in Jennersville, and as a member of the board of the Oxford Senior Center. She was long a resident of this area, graduating from Avon Grove High School in 1954.
