Congratulations to the Avon Grove High School Girls Swimming & Diving Team on clinching the PIAA State Championship! It has been 40 years since Avon Grove High School has produced a state championship team. The girls of the AGHS Swim Team competed for the State Championship on March 18 & 19 but a snow storm delayed the diving portion of the competition. So, while their lead from the first day of swimming appeared insurmountable the team had to wait until March 26th for their title to become official.

Today the swimmers were taken on a victory tour of the district schools parading thru Fred S. Engle Middle School, Avon Grove Intermediate School, and Penn London Elementary. As a surprise organized by the High School Athletic Director, Vanessa Robtison, the West Grove Fire Company escorted the athletes bus back to the high school. In parade fashion, with lights and sirens, helping to honor this impressive accomplishment. At the high school the team was greeted with a gymnasium full of their fellow students, teachers and parents. The formal PIAA state championship trophy presentation was made and then the girls helped to unveil the team’s championship banner that will hang in the gymnasium marking this accomplishment for generations to come.

The West Grove Fire Company was honored to be a part of this celebration, and offers a heartfelt congratulations to these incredible student athletes and their coaches on their state championship win!
