In November WGFC members participated in an 8 hour fire flashover training program facilitated by the Chester County Public Safety Training Campus (CCPSTC). The program started with a classroom session reviewing key points including incipient phase of fire, fire growth, smoke production, high and low pressure zones, thermal feedback, rollover and flashover. The second session took place at the Flashover Simulator at the CCPSTC in Coatesville. The flashover simulator permits firefighters to observe fire growth from the incipient stage to flashover in a controlled environment. Firefighters observed the signs of impending flashover, effects of airflow change, and the use of proper nozzle techniques to delay the flashover event.

Flashover conditions are deadly for fire victims and firefighters, flashover simulators provides firefighters an outstanding training experience in recognizing and interrupting this deadly event. Twenty three WGFC members attended this training, the WGFC Training Committee and Line Officers thank our members for their continued dedication to training and public safety.

Special thanks to KVFD for providing a standby crew while we were out training!!
