On July 6th, at 4:16am, Station 36 (Po-Mar-Lin) and Station 25 (Longwood) were dispatched to a building fire in the 200 block of Line Road, in New Garden Township. MICU 25 was first onscene at 4:27am with “multiple vehicles on fire with extension into the building.” Chief 36 arrived shortly thereafter, establishing “Line Road Command.” He requested the Working Fire Dispatch, which is a predetermined command, automatically adding additional resources; dispatching West Grove for the RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) assignment and for Tanker 22 for additional water. At 4:42am Rescue 22 and Tanker 22 both made their responses.

While responding, Tanker 22 was redirected to standby at Station 36; since the incident was utilizing a fire hydrant near the fire scene.

Engine 22 and Chief 22 also responded for additional manpower at 4:54am.

Rescue 22 arrived onscene, and met with Command. They were advised at that time, there were 12 firefighters working inside the compromised structure. The RIT team staged their equipment, and conducted a 360 degree walk-around of the structure. While doing so, they completed a task of removing one of the garage doors; widening the means of egress for the firefighters working inside.

The RIT crew staged for 1 hour and 40 minutes; for the duration of interior firefighting operations. Once the fire was out, the crew was de-activated, and was told to return to quarters. No issues arose requiring the activation of the RIT crew.

Engine 22’s crew arrived, relieved one of the initial attack teams, and continued with suppression operations.

West Grove units were released at 6:30am. While returning to quarters, Chester County Fire Board alerted Line Road Command of a second call in the district; a fire alarm at Inniscrone Golf Club House. Command directed the West Grove units to respond to that incident.

Chief 22 arrived onscene at 1 Clubhouse Drive with nothing showing from the A & B sides of the building. Volunteer West Grove firefighters were in the vicinity and responded direct, arriving before Chief 22. Once the Chief arrived, he was advised by those firefighters that it was smoke coming from a hot dog machine. The machine was secured, with no further issues. With that information, Chief 22 recalled the assignment and the West Grove apparatus returned to their respective quarters at 6:50am.
