October 5, 2014

Engine 22 was busy at work on Sunday, continuing to be one of the busiest pieces for the West Grove Fire Company. Below is a break down of the runs handled on Sunday.

Fire Box - 2274

At 1005 hours the Company was alerted for a medical alert alarm at Luther House 1 in Penn Township. Ambulance 12-1 with two and Engine 22 with four made the responses. The Ambulance crew arrived first and checked in with the front desk receptionist who had no room number or knowledge of any emergency. The County report showed multiple unknowns as well from the alarm company. The address from the alarm company was for Luther House 2. The Ambulance crew continued to investigate Luther House 1 while the Engine 22 crew investigated Luther House 2. After further investigation no emergency was found and crews went available within 30 minutes.

Fire Box - 2110

At 1044 hours an Engine was called to assist the Union Fire Company No. 1 (Station 21) on a furnace malfunction in the 100 block of College Circle in Lower Oxford Township. Engine 22 with a crew of five made the response. Deputy 21 arrived with smoke showing from the front door and ordered the first in engine to investigate. Engine 21-1 was first to arrive and found a furnace that backfired and filled the basement and first floor of the house with smoke. Command then scaled the assignment back to 21 units only. Engine 22 went available at 1059 hours.

Fire Box - 2110

As Engine 22 was clearing the furnace incident, Chester County Fireboard alerted them to pick up the landing zone assignment for the MVC that 21 units were currently operating at. Engine 22 responded from the Lincoln University area to Jennersville Regional Hospital to set up a landing zone for MedEvac 3. Engine 22 arrived to secure the area and stop all traffic on Old Baltimore Pike. As the medical helicopter landed the Ambulance crew from 21 advised that the helicopter could stand down as their services were no longer needed. MedEvac 3 took back off and Engine 22 returned at 1126 hours.
